No Major Breakthrough as Trump Sets Deadline on Iran

Trump Issues Stark Ultimatum to Iran as Deadline for Potential Strikes Looms

U.S. President Donald Trump has intensified pressure on Iran, issuing one of his most explicit warnings yet as tensions escalate in the ongoing conflict involving the United States and Israel.

Over the past five weeks of hostilities, Trump has repeatedly set deadlines and issued demands. However, his latest ultimatum outlines a clear timeline and severe consequences if Iran fails to comply.

According to the president, a new round of military strikes could begin at 8:00 p.m. Washington time on Tuesday, with key infrastructure targets such as bridges and power plants at risk of large scale destruction.

Trump stated that “very little is off limits,” warning that Iran’s infrastructure could be devastated unless an agreement acceptable to the United States is reached. A central demand includes ensuring unrestricted oil flow through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, a critical global energy route.

Despite the looming deadline, there are few signs that Iran is prepared to concede. Tehran has rejected ceasefire proposals and instead presented its own conditions, including sanctions relief and broader guarantees, which U.S. officials have described as excessive.

This standoff places Trump in a complex position. While he has already extended similar deadlines multiple times in recent weeks, failing to act after such direct threats could weaken his credibility on the global stage.

Speaking at a recent press conference, Trump maintained that U.S. forces have already achieved significant military success, asserting that Iran is “militarily defeated.” However, he acknowledged that Tehran still holds strategic leverage, particularly through its ability to disrupt oil shipments in the Strait of Hormuz using drones, missiles, and naval mines.

Iran has also warned of severe retaliation if further strikes are carried out, raising fears of a broader regional crisis with significant humanitarian and economic consequences.

Even as the deadline approaches, Trump has suggested that diplomatic efforts may still be underway behind the scenes, hinting at ongoing negotiations without providing specific details.

They have till tomorrow,” he said. “We’ll see what happens.”

With both sides holding firm and global stakes rising, the coming hours are expected to be critical in determining whether the conflict escalates further or moves toward a negotiated resolution.
