Nollywood star Funke Akindele has opened up about her personality, admitting that she can sometimes be extreme in her emotions—loving too deeply and cutting people off too quickly.
Speaking on The Morayo Show, the actress revealed that she is learning to find balance while prioritising her mental health. “I know I am too extreme; I can love too hard and also easily cut off people. I must say I’m not proud of that and I’m proud of it. There must be a balance,” she said
Funke credited her close friend and colleague, Uzee Usman, for helping her gain new perspective on relationships and leadership. She recalled his advice to be more patient and less reactive when dealing with people, noting that true leadership requires tolerance and understanding.
Reflecting further, she shared how her late mother shaped her mindset. “I know I am an extremist. I love so hard, I’m real, I’m not perfect, I can be tough. When my mum was alive, she would always tell me to calm down… It’s good but calm down. Human relationships are very important to me, and I’m learning every day, but no matter what happens, my mental health is very important,” she said.
Her candid remarks come just days after a viral video showed her snubbing fellow actress Toyin Abraham at Iyabo Ojo’s movie premiere, sparking online debate.
